Blake Griffin, LeBron James named Players of the Week

Blake Griffin and LeBron James led their teams to undefeated weeks and put up some crazy numbers, earning themselves the distinction of being named Players of the Week.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin and Miami Heat forward LeBron James have been named Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, the NBA announced on Monday.

Griffin averaged 25.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists and shot 56 percent from the field in the Clippers' 3-0 homestand against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder and Brooklyn Nets this past week. His 30 points against Brooklyn were a season high.

James' numbers were even more ridiculous. He averaged a league-best 34 points on 70.2 percent field goal shooting as Miami beat the Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Bobcats. He also averaged 4.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds in those games. Against the Mavericks, he scored a season-high 39 points on 14-of-18 shooting, which doesn't seem like it should be possible.
