Boston welcomes back Doc Rivers for Clippers-Celtics

There were no boos to be heard as Doc returned to Boston on Wednesday night.

With the Clippers visiting Boston on Wednesday night, the Celtics provided former coach Doc Rivers with quite the welcome. Between the first and second quarters at TD Garden, the jumbotron played the above video highlighting many of the greatest moments from Rivers' time with the club.

Though he's doing his thing in L.A. now, the Celtics faithful showed their appreciation to a man who was integral to the team's 17th championship. We don't always see teams and cities welcome back former players and coaches like this, but it looks like Boston and Doc are firmly on good terms.

At halftime in Boston, the Celtics hold a 45-39 lead. Under first-year coach Brad Stevens, they've been one of the most pleasant surprises in an otherwise disappointing Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the Clippers have had mixed results so far under Doc, but remain one of the major contenders in the West.
