Gary Payton reportedly elected to the Hall of Fame

Gary Payton, the legendary PG whose defensive prowess earned him the nickname "The Glove," will be elected into the Hall of Fame this year, according to a report from Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com.

Payton was one of the most distinguished players of his generation, with nine All-Star games, nine All-NBA teams and nine All-Defensive teams on his resume. He played 17 seasons in the NBA for five different teams, averaging 16 points, four rebounds and seven assists on 47 percent shooting.

He's most known for his time in Seattle, where he spent the first 12 seasons of his career. Playing alongside Shawn Kemp, Payton formed one of the most explosive pick-and-roll duos in the history of the NBA, leading the SuperSonics to the 1996 NBA Finals, where they lost to the 72-win Chicago Bulls.

At 6'4, 180 pounds, Payton was one of the biggest and most athletic point guards in NBA history. He became only the fifth guard in league history to win the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 1996 and no guard has won it since.
