NBA 2K14 to include 14 Euroleague teams

As the NBA and Euroleague player pools grow more and more similar, the 2K line of games will include 14 teams from the top flight of European basketball, as they've reached a partnership with the international league.

The next edition of the NBA 2K series of games will be the first game of its kind to include European club basketball teams alongside their NBA counterparts, as NBA 2K14 is confirmed to have 14 squads from the Euroleague, per a press release from Euroleague announcing the new partnership.

As basketball becomes more global, the NBA remains the clear best league in the world, but the teams that play in the top European competition resemble NBA rosters more and more every year. Euroleague squads are filled with either players that recently played in the NBA or have a good chance of someday playing in the NBA -- two players on teams in this game were selected in the 2013 NBA Draft last week, and several teams contain players who had been selected in previous drafts but haven't yet come over to the league.

It's an unprecedented move. NBA Live 2008 had several national teams, tied in with the Beijing Olympics that summer. But the game did not feature any foreign club teams, the majority of players on those teams were already included in the game on their respective NBA teams, and the national team feature was discontinued after just one season.

Here's the full list of teams in the game:

- Alba Berlin

- FC Barcelona

- Real Madrid

- CSKA Moscow

- EA7 Emporio Armani Milano

- Montepaschi Siena

- Fenerbahçe Ülker Istanbul

- Anadolu Efes Istanbul

- Olympiacos Piraeus

- Panathinaikos Athens

- Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv

- Zalgiris Kaunas

- Unicaja Málaga

- Laboral Kutxa Vitoria

That's four teams from Spain, two from Turkey, Greece, and Italy, and one from Russia, Germany, Israel, and Lithuania. The Euroleague consists of 31 teams from different European countries, with the roster changing year-by-year based on how each team fares in their domestic league.
