Derrick Rose showcased the full package against the Pistons

Rose scored 24 points in Chicago's win over the Pistons.

Sometimes it seems like Derrick Rose just can't catch a break. After playing only 10 games total in the last two seasons combined, it felt incredibly cruel to see the Bulls star suffer two sprained ankles on the same play in the second game of the season. The injuries forced Rose to sit out in four of Chicago's next five games, but he returned to the lineup against the Pistons on Monday. He looked great in doing so.

Rose was aggressive from the opening tip in his matchup against Brandon Jennings, pushing the pace and finding his way into the teeth of the defense early and often. By halftime, he had 13 points five assists and numerous highlight plays like this one:

Rose kept the pressure on in the second half to finish the night with 24 points and seven assists on 9-of-20 shooting from the field. Rose did it with speed .....


... and power:

The Pistons came back in the second half to make a game of it, but Chicago simply was too much in the end. This version of Derrick Rose has been gone for far too long. It's nice to have him back.
