Barring a sudden change of heart, Fred Hoiberg is still expected to replace Tom Thibodeau as the next Bulls head coach. The official announcement from the team could happen as early as next week before the the NBA Finals begin on Thursday, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The Bulls took nearly two weeks after their season ended to announce the firing of Thibodeau and news on Hoiberg has been quiet throughout the process, but Chicago's feelings about the five-year Iowa State head coach haven't changed.
Regardless, it does look like Hoiberg will officially accept the job next week -- and may, in fact, have a verbal agreement already in place. The official announcement reportedly could also take several weeks so that Hoiberg's four children can finish school, according to the Tribune.
Hoiberg went 115-56 as the head coach of the Cyclones, leading them to the Sweet 16 in 2014. Hoiberg also spent four seasons with the Bulls during his playing career from 1999 to 2003.
