Free agent center Bismack Biyombo has agreed to a two-year, $10 million contract with the Toronto Raptors on Saturday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Biyombo is a young, unproven talent who played a limited role off the bench for Charlotte the past four years. After averaging 27 minutes a night for the Hornets in the 2012-13 season, he took a drastic step back, playing 77 games in 2013-14 but earning only 14 minutes a night. Last season, Biyombo averaged five points, six rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 64 games and 19 minutes a night.
Only 22, Biyombo is still learning the game and could have a promising future. Toronto needs a backup behind Jonas Valanciunas and lost Amir Johnson in free agency this week, so Biyombo is capable of taking on a further role.
While he's understandably raw on offense, Biyombo isn't completely without touch around the basket. It's a good move for Toronto regardless and even better if they can develop him as a player.
