The Rising Stars Challenge will cap off a busy first day of 2016 All-Star Weekend in Toronto that also features the Celebrity Game, All-Star Media Day and a Hall of Fame announcement.
Toronto native Andrew Wiggins leads the World Team in the Rising Stars Challenge against Minnesota Timberwolves teammates Karl-Anthony Towns and Zach LaVine of the U.S. Team starting at 9 p.m. ET. In addition to Towns, the entire top five of the 2015 NBA Draft will participate. That includes D'Angelo Russell and Jahlil Okafor for the U.S Team, and Kristaps Porzingis and Mario Hezonja for the World Team.
The Celebrity Game will immediately precede the Rising Stars Challenge at 7 p.m. ET. Toronto native Drake and actor Kevin Hart will coach the respective teams in a game that'll include ex-NBA players Steve Nash (who will assist Drake alongside Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista), Tracy McGrady, Chauncey Billups, Muggsy Bogues and Rick Fox. WNBA MVP Elena Delle Donne will also show off her skills alongside other celebrities like noted basketball enthusiast and Arcade Fire front man Win Butler and Milwaukee Bucks owner Marc Lasry.
The day starts off Friday with a televised two-hour Rising Stars Challenge practice at 9:30 a.m. ET, followed by the official NBA All-Star Media Day. Then comes the announcement for the Hall of Fame finalists from the North American and Women's committee. Shaquille O'Neal and Allen Iverson are expected to be announced as finalists.
