76ers' Robert Covington carted off after getting kicked in the face by a teammate

Covington suffered a scary injury that required him to be carted off the floor.

The Philadelphia 76ers' Robert Covington was carted off the floor after a bizarre play where he was kicked in the face by his own teammate in the third quarter of a game against the Brooklyn Nets.

Teammate Jerami Grant was undercut jumping to contest a shot and spun around, and his leg hit Covington in the face. Covington was stabilized with a neck brace and wheeled off the court in a stretcher. He did give the crowd a thumbs up as he was being taken off the floor, per CSN's John Clark.

Grant also left the game and will not return.

The injuries come hours after Jahlil Okafor was announced out for the season. Okafor, the third overall selection in last year's NBA Draft, suffered a small tear in his right meniscus that will have him sitting for six weeks.
