Dahntay Jones lost two-thirds of his salary in 2 minutes vs. Raptors

His ejection will cost him.

Dahntay Jones played all of two minutes in a blowout Cleveland Cavaliers win over the Toronto Raptors on Monday night before he was ejected. After throwing down a dunk, Jones had words for Raptors rookie Jakob Poeltl.

That resulted in a double technical foul call.

But Jones’ words didn’t stop.

He was then ejected from the game with 18.7 seconds left to play.

Jones, who is known for his cheap shots, was signed by the Cavaliers in the second week of April after not playing for the entire season. He’s remembered infamously for hitting Bismack Biyombo in the groin last season.

Because Jones signed so late in the season, he only made $9,000 playing for the Cavs this year, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. The two technical fouls and ejection he picked up on Monday night’s game will cost him $6,000.

If he picks up another technical in the postseason, there’s a chance he will have paid to play for the Cavs this year. The team has to vote on how it divides up its playoff money share, and though it’s highly unlikely, they could vote him out of anything.

Regardless, this was a bad look for Jones.
