According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowksi, Kelly Olynyk has agreed to a four-year deal with the Miami Heat for $50 million. The deal includes a player option in the fourth year. Olynyk was renounced by the Celtics after Gordon Hayward agreed to sign with Boston. Olynyk was a restricted free agent, but the Celtics’ offseason moves allowed him to become an unrestricted free agent.
The Heat now have committed long term to a core of Hassan Whiteside, Goran Dragic, Dion Waiters, Kelly Olynyk, and Tyler Johnson.
What should I know about Kelly Olynyk?
Olynyk had a breakout game in the 2017 NBA Playoffs during Game 7 against the Wizards. He led the Celtics with a playoff career high of 26 points in the win. He went 10-of-14 from the field for the game and scored 14 points in the fourth quarter
Olynyk has played all four of his NBA seasons with the Celtics. Last year, he averaged nine points in 20 minutes per game, shooting 50 percent from the field. He has a decent three-point shot as a power forward, shooting 34 percent last season, which makes him a good floor spacer in today’s game.
