Kobe Bryant wins Oscar for short film, ‘Dear Basketball’

Make sure to say “Oscar award-winning” when you mention Kobe Bryant these days. His short film Dear Basketball just won the award for “best animated short” at the 2018 Academy Awards.

Bryant released the film at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival in April, which was based around will the poem he wrote to announce his retirement titled, Dear Basketball. Bryant also narrates the short.

Bryant did not shy away from the making of this film as he worked Disney’s Glen Keane to animate the film, and Academy Award winner John Williams will compose the music.
