Markelle Fultz’s made 3-pointer was the second biggest Philly sports event of the year

It was the first of his career!

Markelle Fultz made the first three-point shot of his career in garbage time of a 127-108 win over the Chicago Bulls, and it felt magical. The 2017 No. 1 pick, who had the “yips” or a shoulder injury or both last season, seemingly lost his ability to shoot at random. But it’s been found again — kinda — and Sixers fans rejoiced in the moment.

Twitter loved it too:

Fultz took two legitimate attempts from beyond the arc (a third was a chuck from halfcourt before the buzzer) and while his form still doesn’t look like it did at the University of Washington, it’s competent enough to go through the net. That’s progress!

Sixers fans have made an effort to cheer on their struggling young player. The crowd rose to its feet when he made a mid-range jumper earlier in the night.

It was a solid night for the 20-year-old, and one of the first we saw a glimpse of improvement in. He scored 12 points on 15 shots with five assists, and coach Brett Brown let him run for most of the second half.

The Sixers might finally have something with their No. 1 pick.
