Former Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations and GM Sam Hinkie, the mind behind the franchise’s “Trust the Process” motto, is now working in the NFL as an analytics consultant for the Denver Broncos, according to The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala. His offical role is unclear, but he’s at the least advising the team.

Hinkie spent time on Thursday with Broncos’ GM John Elway, pro and college scouting staffs, the director of football analytics and the team’s cap guru, according to The Athletic.

The former Sixers GM worked in the world of football before basketball. According to USA Today, Hinkie worked part-time in college for the San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans doing salary cap analysis while earning his masters at Stanford

Hinkie resigned from his role with the Sixers in 2016, leaving behind a 13-page letter in defense of his approach to managing the team, which included a whole lot of losing. In four straight years, Philly won just 28 games or less, including a two-year stretch resulting in 29 wins out of 164 games. Now, the benefits are paying off as the team nearly doubled its wins total behind stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

Hinkie has yet to hold an official role since.
