After an all-star season with the 76ers, Joel Embiid will be on the cover of NBA Live 19. This cover selection is fitting because both Embiid and NBA Live have made strides over the last few years.
“Joel is a perfect fit to grace the cover of NBA LIVE 19,” Joshua Rabenovets, senior brand director at EA Sports said via press release. “He is the voice of the new wave of basketball players and his on-court dominance, creative personality, and love for the fans made him an ideal choice for this year’s game.”
The game will launch worldwide on Sept. 7 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
That new wave is important too. There is a whole new generation of gamers who didn’t grow up on NBA Live 2005 and those classics.
NBA Live 19 seeks to improve gameplay with a new feature called “build your squad,” where you can travel to courts all over the world and recruit talent to your team. Game play improvements are also a main target with the introduction of real-player motion and the expansion of the one-on-one features.
This is such a cool moment for Embiid. After being sidelined for the 2014-15 and most of the 2015-16 season, it’s awesome to see him comeback, be an all-star and have a video game cover.
With all of this you can say NBA Live is … *trusting the process*. AMIRITE?!?
