DeAndre Jordan announced his free agency with a damn emoji like it’s 2015 all over again

Everything came full circle.

DeAndre Jordan surprisingly agreed to a one-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks for around the same price as the $24.1 million option he declined from the Los Angeles Clippers, according to the New York Times Marc Stein. Finally, Jordan appears to be going to the Mavs!

Remember the great emoji battle in the Summer of 2015 that led Blake Griffin, Doc Rivers, Chris Paul and J.J. Redick to fly to Dallas to convince him to stay in L.A. instead? DeAndre does! He even tweeted this cowboy emoji out just minutes after midnight.

You know who else remembers? Chandler Parsons, the guy who got Jordan to commit to Dallas three years ago.

The Mavs were always the favorite to land Jordan, but most expected he’d be looking for a long-term deal. Maybe Dallas was a bit hesitant after Jordan infamously flaked a few years ago.

This time appears to be for real, though.

It is important to remember that there’s plenty of time for Jordan to spurn the Mavs again. Nothing becomes official until July 6, when players are allowed to formally sign. Any agreement before then is just a verbal confirmation — AKA the type that can be broken.

But Jordan to the Mavs has been trending for some time. The Clippers even gave him a thank you on Twitter before he even left.

Let’s see how long it takes Jordan to gain Dallas fans’ trust, though.
