The North Carolina Tarheels retained their No. 1 ranking in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, claiming the same 30 of 31 first-place votes that they got in each of the first two polls. The Tarheels won their only game last week, beating Mississippi Valley State 101-75 on Sunday. Kentucky received the other first-place vote and remains ranked No. 2 in the poll.
At the top of the poll, the biggest mover was Pittsburgh, who fell from No. 9 to No. 16 after losing at home to Long Beach State on. Nov. 16. The loss to the unranked 49ers snapped the Panthers' 58-game home non-conference winning streak. Florida was the only other Top 10 team to lose this week. But the Gators' loss was at No. 3 Ohio State, and only moved them down one spot from No. 8.
The most upwardly mobile team of the week was Creighton, who cracked the Top 25. A week ago, they were ranked No. 32. A pair of wins over UAB and Iowa were enough to give them a boost, though.
