The Georgetown Hoyas were able to upset No. 12 Alabama Crimson Tide by taking an early lead in the game and shutting down the Alabama offense in the first half. At halftime, the Hoyas held a 23-16 lead and stifling Alabama's ability to score.
In the second half Bama was able to outscore the Hoyas, but it wasn't enough. Thanks to a late three-pointer by Hollis Thompson, the Hoyas were able to hold on and score the upset, 57-55. Jason Clark led the Hoyas in scoring with 22 points, including shooting four of seven from three-point range. For Alabama, forward Tony Mitchell led the way for the Crimson Tide with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Bama was killed by their inability to shoot from three-point range, hitting on just three of 16 shots from behind the arc.
