The second round of the 2011 Big East Tournament kicks off on Wednesday as the Georgetown Hoyas host the Connecticut Huskies at noon in the first of four second round matchups from Madison Square Garden.
On the first day, UConn got the action started, breezing by Depaul and into the second round. Rutgers pulled off a mild upset in the second game, sneaking by Seton Hall at Madison Square Garden. South Florida stole the headlines later in the day, stunning Villanova and, perhaps, sinking the Wildcats' chances of an NCAA Tournament bid. Marquette capped the day with an easy win over Providence to advance to the second round.
On Wednesday, four more teams join the tournament, with St. John's, a fifth-seed in Steve Lavin's first year, highlighting those coming off byes. Georgetown, Cincinnati and West Virginia also make grand entrances into the Big East Tournament.
ESPN has wall-to-wall coverage again on Wednesday, beginning with Georgetown-UConn at noon and ending with the Marquette-West Virginia game at 9.
