James Madison Vs. UNC Wilmington Final Score: Seahawks Advance With 70-59 Win

In the first game of first round action in the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball tournament, the No. 9 UNC-Wilmington Seahawks pulled off a 70-59 win over the No. 8 James Madison Dukes. The higher seed jumped out to an early 14-3 lead thanks to two quick assists from Devon Moore and Humpty Hitchens, but the Seahawks powered back, outscored James Madison 67-45 the rest of the way and held the lead for the entire second half.

Freshman forward Cedrick Williams was the star of the show. He scored a game-high 22 points, grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and mixed an efficient 7-12 shooting performance with 8-10 from the free throw line. Keith Rendelman did a little bit of everything, as he contributed 14 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win. Despite shooting just 2-11 from beyond the arc as a team, the Seahawks managed to balance it out by getting to the line often -- they hit 26-32 on free throws -- and grabbing 15 offensive rebounds.

For James Madison, Humpty Hitchens and Arman Marks were the only players to score in double figures. They each produced 12 points, but the Dukes only shot 40 percent from the field as a team.

After earning the win, UNC-Wilmington now must turn their focus to a Saturday matchup against the top-seeded Drexel Dragons in the quarterfinal round.
