Former Pennsylvania assistant Mike Martin has been named as the new men's basketball coach at Ivy League rival Brown.

Martin is a 2004 graduate of Brown and was a four-year starter for the Bears. He help the program amass a four-year record of 63-45, making him part of the winningest class in school history. Martin took an assistant's job at his alma mater right after graduation before spending the past six seasons at Penn.

Martin replaces Jesse Agel, who went just 39-79 over four seasons at Brown. The Bears went 8-23 in 2011-12, including a dismal 2-12 mark in conference play.

Brown has won the Ivy League and advanced to the NCAA Tournament just twice, the most recent occurrence coming in 1986.
