BYU has been to the Las Vegas Bowl for each of the last five seasons, but this bowl season the Cougars are heading to Albuquerque to play in the New Mexico Bowl. The Cougars finished the season hot, winning five of their last seven games after starting-off 1-4. Freshman Jake Heaps took over at quarterback full-time after Riley Nelson went down for the season, leading the Cougars to bowl-eligibility with a late-season charge.
Even though the New Mexico Bowl has a tie-in with the WAC, multiple reports have surfaced indicating UTEP will face-off against BYU in Albuquerque. The Miners finished the season at 6-6, good for fourth place in Conference USA's Western Division.
The New Mexico Bowl takes place on Dec. 18th at 2 p.m. Eastern.
