Jim Harbaugh Won't Leave Stanford For Michigan, According To Report

Stanford football coach Jim Harbaugh will not be the next coach at Michigan, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press. Harbaugh is a Michigan alumni and has been rumored to be in line to replace Rich Rodriguez for the last several weeks.

With the Wolverines reportedly out of the running for Harbaugh's services, the Cardinal coach will now likely choose between staying at Stanford, or bolting for the NFL. The San Francisco 49ers are rumored to be the front-runners to land Harbaugh, should he decide to make the jump to the professional ranks.

Harbaugh may opt to stay at Stanford, however, where he's been extremely successful during his four year tenure. He took the Cardinal from 4-8 in his first season to 12-1 this year, which was capped off with an Orange Bowl victory. Harbaugh has also molded QB Andrew Luck into the No. 1 prospect in the 2011 NFL Draft.
