BCS Rankings, Week 12: Alabama Tops Oregon Behind Oklahoma State, LSU

The LSU Tigers and Oklahoma State Cowboys are sitting atop the BCS rankings for Week 13. If the Cowboys were to lose, however, the Alabama Crimson Tide are in position for a rematch.

The BCS rankings for Week 12 were expected to be shaken up a bit considering two top five teams suffered losses on Saturday, leaving just the LSU Tigers and Oklahoma State Cowboys as undefeated teams with national championship hopes. There are a couple of teams lurking, though, if either team suffers a loss in the next few weeks.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are sitting in good position to force a rematch of their game with LSU just a few weeks ago, as SB Nation's Samuel Chi pointed out in the Week 13 BCS ranking projections. That would only happen if the Cowboys happened to suffer the same fate the previously undefeated Stanford Cardinal and Boise State Broncos did this weekend, though -- perhaps in its upcoming match-up with the Oklahoma Sooners.

The remaining top five, and therefore likely BCS candidates if either LSU or Oklahoma State loses, has the Oregon Ducks sitting in fourth place after their victory over Stanford with the Sooners moving up after its win over Texas A&M. Other notable teams include Boise State and Stanford as both were able to remain in the top ten despite losses this week.
