The USC Trojans jumped out to an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. At halftime, the Trojans held a 29-0 lead over their cross town rival UCLA Bruins. Head coach Lane Kiffin kept his foot on the pedal after halftime, scoring 14 more points in the third quarter. By the time the fourth quarter had started, quarterback Matt Barkley had already thrown for five touchdown passes, throwing his sixth early in the fourth quarter.
The Trojans proved to just be too much for the Bruins and overwhelmed them to the tune of 50-0. Barkley ended the day throwing for well over 400 yards and six touchdown passes. Wide receivers Marquise Lee and Robert Woods once again had dominant days, each catching a pair of touchdowns. The Bruins were able to rack up plenty of yards on offense, but just couldn't crack the scoreboard.
Despite the blowout loss and USC finishing ahead of UCLA in the Pac-12 South, because of the sanctions on USC the Bruins will make their way to the Pac-12 title game as the South representative.
