While the LSU Tigers rode a win over the Alabama Crimson Tide to a unanimous No. 1 selection in the Week 11 USA Today coaches poll, the Boise State Broncos may have a reason for hope thanks to the Week 11 AP Poll. LSU's No. 1, but the Broncos still have a first-place vote.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys take the No. 2 spot in the AP Poll, their highest-ever ranking, after surviving the Kansas State Wildcats in a wild game Saturday night. The Stanford Cardinal follow the Cowboys at No. 3, and Alabama drops to No. 4 after its first loss of the season, but still ranks one spot ahead of Boise State.
But No. 5 Boise State might have gotten good news in the AP Poll despite all of that. The Georgia Bulldogs that the Broncos dominated in a season-opening victory are now soaring, climbing into the top 15 at No. 14. If Georgia can win the SEC East and pull a colossal upset in the SEC Championship Game over what is certain to be a heavily-favored SEC West champion, the Broncos might yet reach the mountaintop and play for a BCS national championship.
Of course, it would help Boise a little more if the AP Poll weren't completely irrelevant to the BCS formula.
