Justin Thomas, a four-star athlete from Prattville, Alabama has decommitted from the Alabama Crimson Tide. This change of heart apparently stems from a disagreement over which position Thomas will play at the next level:
Thomas is an explosive athlete who happens to play quarterback for Prattville High. He is not considered an elite quarterback prospect, but isn't terrible at the position. He's certainly not a four-star level prospect as a quarterback.
If Thomas has his heart set on playing quarterback, this is the right choice. Alabama runs a conservative, pro-style offense that puts an emphasis on the quarterback making smart decisions above everything else. Nick Saban's team has never shown a willingness to adapt the offense to use a quarterback's legs.
Thomas makes things happen with his feet, and makes a lot of mistakes as well. He'll need to find an offense that fits his skillset. Alabama obviously hates to lose a kid of Thomas' caliber, but it's important that both sides know the deal before enrolling.
