Houston is still on the hunt for a new head coach after losing Kevin Sumlin to Texas A&M, but may be zeroing in on a target. According to a report on Saturday, Sonny Dykes' name has been strongly linked to the Cougars' head coaching position. Dykes is currently the head man at Louisiana Tech, a job he's held for the last two seasons.
The report comes from CBS' Bruce Feldman.
Hearing that LaTech coach Sonny Dykes is now a strong candidate for the Houston vacancy.
Dykes' Louisiana Tech team is preparing for the Poinsettia Bowl, perhaps complicating or delaying matters. In his second year at the helm, Dykes led the Bulldogs to an 8-4 record, including a 6-1 mark in conference, as Louisiana Tech finished first in the WAC. His Louisiana Tech team will face TCU in San Diego on Wednesday.
