On Wednesday, the Oklahoma State Cowboys declared that starting free safety Johnny Thomas and key backup wide receiver Michael Harrison would not play in the team's season opener against Louisiana-Lafayette due to eligibility concerns. Thomas is still out, but Harrison will be able to play Saturday after having his issues cleared up.
There's currently no timetable for the return of Thomas, and Daytawion Lowe is expected to start in his place going forward. Harrison should see plenty of time on the field this year, but not as a starter unless the Cowboys run into some serious injury problems. He's currently behind some guy in the depth chart...Blackmon? Oh, that's right, Justin Blackmon. That is who is ahead of him on the depth chart. Tough break, kid.
Oklahoma State are big favorites against the Ragin' Cajuns and should be able to notch a victory even without Thomas.
