College Football Rankings: AP Top 25 Makes More Sense Than Coaches' Poll, At Least

Compared to the USA Today Coaches' Poll, the first post-game edition of the Associated Press Top 25 is a thing of mastery. The Boise St. Broncos are better credited with a big win, the Auburn Tigers are punished for an embarrassing victory and the Oregon Ducks walked away slightly (very slightly) less scathed for choosing to play a national championship contender on the road in Week 1.

The AP also showed love to the Baylor Bears, who beat the TCU Horned Frogs.  Not to mention LSU's win over Oregon moves it ahead of the Alabama Crimson Tide, who chose to open against Kent State. Tolerable work, AP!

The Oklahoma Sooners remain the consensus No. 1 team in the country. Georgia and Notre Dame joined Auburn and USC on the way out, while West Virginia, Texas and Penn State accompanied Baylor into the rankings. Next five: Arizona State, Auburn, USC, Georgia and Northwestern.

The new AP Top 25:
