The first period of overtime at the 2012 Outback Bowl ended with no score, as Georgia's Blair Walsh missed a 42-yard field goal attempt wide right after the Bulldogs intercepted Michigan State's Kirk Cousins for the third time today.

Both defenses held their regulation form, as Michigan State moved the ball only three yards on a Le'Veon Bell rush before the Cousins interception to the Dawgs' Bacarri Rambo.Georgia's Carlton Thomas managed a two yard run before Aaron Murray would be hit for a two-yard loss. Georgia head coach Mark Richt elected for Walsh to kick on third and 10, and after a Michigan timeout, Walsh's kick just barely fell right.
