Texas Tech Red Raiders head coach Tommy Tuberville has been sued in a federal court for allegedly defrauding investors, the Huntsville Times reports. The former Auburn Tigers coach is accused of steering seven mid-Southern plaintiffs out of $1.7 million via his investment company.

Tuberville has long been involved with finance and investment -- the Times report tracks his advanced interest in the fiscal world back to 2009. This all doesn't sound good, especially in light of the Jim Donnan Ponzi episode. However, people in Alabama sue stuff. It just happens all the time, so it's hard to assume anything will or won't come of this.

All in all, it's not been a good few months for Tuberville. There's also the ongoing investigation into his wife's role in a man's death. Suzanne Tuberville has not been charged.

Texas Tech began 2012 spring practice last week.
