The Mississippi Rebels are heading into their basketball offseason, looking ahead at the rest of 2012 and, it appears, planning on putting a new athletic director in place by the time football season rolls around.
In a story broken by Rebel Grove, the school is on the verge of announcing the hire of Western Kentucky Hilltoppers athletic director Ross Bjork. Chad Bishop of the Daily News backs up the Bjork-to-Ole Miss rumors:
Bjork, who started his second year at WKU on March 12, is rumored to take the same position at Ole Miss and replace Pete Boone who is expected to step down by year’s end. WKU associate athletic director Todd Stewart and Mississippi assistant athletics director Kyle Campbell would not confirm nor deny the reports. Efforts to reach both Bjork and WKU president Gary Ransdell went unanswered.
Jim Holder, the sports director from WTVA-WLOV in Tupelo, tweeted that the announcement has not been made by Ole Miss, but is expected to be forthcoming.
