Long-time Miami Hurricanes coach and short-time Miami Hurricanes head coach Randy Shannon has been out of work for a while, even though his defenses were very effective during his tenure at the university. He was rumored to be a candidate for the Arkansas and Tennessee defensive coordinator jobs last season, but was not hired in either of those positions. He appears to have finally found employment, with the TCU Horned Frogs.
Shannon is expected to be introduced shortly as TCU's new linebackers coach. He was a linebackers coach for the Miami Dolphins for one season before being named Miami's defensive coordinator, a position he held for six years before he became the school's head coach. Shannon's defenses always performed well while he was coordinator, and it's a bit surprising that he's taking a position coaching job instead of a defensive coordinator job somewhere.
