Very few people expected Georgia to struggle with FAU, so very few people were surprised when they did not. Florida Atlantic fumbled on their first possession and Georgia made them pay when quarterback Aaron Murray opened the scoring with a touchdown run.
FAU would answer on a 43-yard touchdown run by Damian Fortner, but the Bulldogs didn't let that lead last for very long. About one minute later, Keith Marshall ran for Georgia's second score of the game.
Florida Atlantic opened the second quarter with a nice drive to even the score, but Murray's second rushing touchdown and his throw to Michael Bennett would see the game to to halftime at 28-14.
Georgia would put the game to bed in the second half, scoring four unanswered touchdowns before FAU would add a garbage time score. It was a fairly comfortable win for the Bulldogs, and the box score looks very nice.
Box Score Hero: Aaron Murray completed 14 of 19 passes on the night for 342-yards and a pair of scores, while running for a pair of touchdowns. Both Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall ran for over 100-yards as well.
Rankings Ramifications: Georgia won't move much, if at all, when the new rankings come out.
But Did They Cover? Georgia was favored by 41.5 and they won by 46. Those who picked them to cover are smiling. The over/under was set at 52.5, so those who took the over will be happy tonight.
