More so than prior years, senior quarterbacks in the 2013 NFL Draft class all need to perform well in postseason all-star games to boost their draft stock. Because of needs by the teams expected to pick in the top 10, quarterbacks will still go high in the draft, but maybe they shouldn't.
The default top quarterback in the class is Geno Smith of West Virginia. Although his play tailored off toward the end of the season, Smith still showed enough skill and accuracy to be picked early. Smith has been consistent too. A three-year starter, Smith's worst completion percentage in a season was 64.8 and 96 touchdowns to just 21 interceptions.
While Smith's draft status has largely been cemented, the same can't be said for Southern California's Matt Barkley. He was exposed this season as having less-than-optimal natural ability and size, but he often makes up for it with intelligence and ball placement. Still, he would be wise to participate in the Senior Bowl.
Right behind Barkley is Tyler Wilson of Arkansas and Mike Glennon of North Carolina State. This season, both showed glimpses of being able to start at the next level.
