The Kansas City Chiefs have clinched the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. The Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars both finished the season 2-14, but Kansas City gets the top pick due to a weaker strength of schedule. The Jaguars pick second.
Now the question about whom the Chiefs will take can begin. For months, West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith was the obvious choice. But Smith has faded down the stretch, including a subpar showing in the Pinstripe Bowl. With left tackle Brandon Albert facing free agency, Luke Joeckel of Texas A&M would be the front runner for the top pick. Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei may also get consideration for the top pick.
Here is the current 2013 NFL Draft order. It will change slightly based on the result of the game between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins. Remember, the first tiebreaker for teams with the same record is strength of schedule. Next is whichever team has a worse division record, then the team with the worse conference record. If all three are the same, there is a coin flip at the NFL Combine in February.
