At the start of the college football season, Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix of Alabama was the clear top safety in the 2014 NFL Draft class. While he may not be the next Mark Barron or Eric Berry (top 10 picks), he'll likely grade out as a first-round pick.
After Clinton-Dix there is is a shake up with several players emerging with excellent seasons. Two of the high risers have been Calvin Pryor of Louisville and Ahmad Dixon of Baylor. Pryor is a hard-hitting safety with the range to cover the deep half of the field. Dixon is an athletic safety who can cover receivers and his aggressiveness lets him play the run.
The rest of the safety class is rounded out by thumpers (Craig Loston and Deone Bucannon), coverage safeties (Sean Parker and Tre Boston) and a solid amount of depth.
