There is flux and constant at the quarterback position. The constant is Teddy Bridgewater of Louisville. The nation's top quarterback prospect has lived up to the hype by throwing with precision, timing and arm strength. What really sets Bridgewater apart from other quarterbacks is what he does before the snap. He knows how to read a defense and make an adjustment.
Marcus Mariota of Oregon has steadily climbed up to the No. 2 spot behind Bridgewater. Mariota's natural skills are hard to beat and he's continually grown as a passer. Perhaps quarterback has helped himself more this season than Derek Carr of Fresno State. Carr is showing better footwork this season to go along with one of the strongest arms in the class. Zach Mettenberger of LSU is another quarterback who has played considerably better this season.
While Mariota, Carr and Mettenberger have risen, several quarterbacks have taken a tumble. Stephen Morris of Miami has the tools, but his decision making tends to be off and he'll throw bad passes. Devin Gardner of Michigan looks like a quarterback not quite ready for the NFL. Kevin Hogan's windup throw may need refinement. Injury will limit the draft ceiling of Bryn Renner of North Carolina.
A late-round sleeper to note is Tom Savage of Pittsburgh. He's bounced around schools, but has size and natural skill. He's a classic pocket passer but a team could go after him deeper in the draft and get a nice developmental player.
