The last time we put together NFL Draft rankings, it was October. In the span of a month in a half, several prospects have risen while others have dropped off. Oddly, our top five players remain unchanged.
While some have soured slightly on Jadeveon Clowney, he remains our top prospect. His production is down, unquestionably. But coaches will tell you they're scheming against Clowney in a big way and often send at least two blockers at him. Add in an ongoing issue with bone spurs in his foot, and it's easy to see why the lazy are downgrading Clowney. To those people, just go back and watch Clowney from last season (and no, not just that play).
Clowney is still followed immediately by quarterback Teddy Bridgewater of Louisville and offensive tackle Jake Matthews of Texas A&M. If the top 100 was split into several tiers, these first three would be a cut above everyone else.
One of the highest risers in the top 100 is Minnesota defensive tackle Ra'Shede Hageman. Currently No. 9 in our rankings, Hageman has emerged as the best defensive tackle in the nation due to his athleticism and length. Another high riser is Derek Carr. The Fresno State senior quarterback has improved considerably since last season and looks to be a near-lock to get drafted in the first round.
Carr isn't the only quarterback to shoot up the rankings. Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M is rapidly ascending and likely hasn't reached the ceiling of his ranking. For now, Manziel is in at No. 43. Here is the complete top 100 players for the 2014 NFL Draft:
