2014 NFL Draft order: Top picks still undetermined

There may be only one week left in the regular season, but the pick order is far from settled.

The Houston Texans are riding a 13-game losing streak into the season's final week. But despite having the league's worst record, Houston doesn't have the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft locked up.

If the Texans beat the Tennessee Titans (like they did Week 2), and the Washington Redskins lose, Houston will pick second due to strength of schedule. The Redskins pick gets sent to the St. Louis Rams as part of the Robert Griffin III trade.

Of course, if the Texans lose, it doesn't matter and Houston gets the top pick. Many believe that means the Texans will take the player they view as being the top quarterback.

That could change depending on who Houston picks as its new head coach. The team has already interviewed former Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith. If a defensive-minded coach like Smith is brought in, that could lead to Houston switching to a 4-3 defense. If Houston goes with a four-man front, South Carolina junior defensive end Jadeveon Clowney will be in play for the top pick.

With six teams having four wins, the top eight picks are in flux. We'll update the draft order following the San Francisco/Atlanta game tonight.

Regardless of how the Monday night game finishes, the Browns and Raiders will have the same strength of schedule after the game. When the strength of schedule is the same, the conference record comes into play. Because the Browns have a worse conference record, they would have the higher choice.

If the season did happen to end after this week, the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys would be flipping a coin for the 17th pick.
