2014 NFL Draft top 64 big board

The two positions combined, the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft featured just one quarterback and running back. In the 2014 NFL Draft, don't expect that to happen again.

South Carolina junior defensive end Jadeveon Clowney gets all the attention, and rightly so. On film, he's the most physically impressive college football player since Ndamukong Suh turned heads at Nebraska. He's Julius Peppers part two.

But it's the quarterback class for next year that has the most intrigue. Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had a break out sophomore season in 2012. He has a deft command of the pocket and throws an exceptional ball. What does that mean, though? Just watch the trajectory of his throws compared to other quarterbacks. Bridgewater has a natural release, is a solid athlete and plays with toughness.

After Bridgewater, there is a lot of buzz surrounding Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd. He's a good athlete who has improved each season at Clemson as a passer. He's still raw, but the potential is sky high. San Jose State's David Fales came out of nowhere last season and looks like a potential high pick. Of course there are the redshirt sophomores Johnny Manziel and Marcus Mariota, who we are not currently rating.

The running back group is solid but doesn't feature that one big, obvious first round player. Charles Sims of Houston fits the profile, but he was injured at times last season. He's a big back with excellent receiving skills. Arizona's Ka'Deem Carey isn't far behind, but he's a different type of back. He's a Jamaal Charles type with speed and start and stop ability.

There are also some very good left tackle prospects. Taylor Lewan of Michigan and Jake Matthews of Texas A&M were probable top 12 picks had they entered the draft this year.
