2014 NFL mock draft: Allen Robinson to New York Giants at No. 43

Hakeem Nicks left for greener pastures in Indianapolis, so the New York Giants are looking for some playmakers to line up alongside Victor Cruz.

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants could use some help at wide receiver. True, Victor Cruz is still in the fold, Rueben Randle remains an intriguing project and Mario Manningham is back with the team, so it's not as if there is a dearth of talent at the position. But in order to keep Cruz among the most explosive and productive slot receivers in the business, they need more talent outside. Ed Valentine of Big Blue View had that in mind when making his second-round pick in the 2014 SB Nation NFL Writers Mock Draft.

43. Giants Allen Robinson, Penn State WR 6'3 220 JR

"The Giants grabbed Taylor Lewan in the first round to help protect Eli Manning. Now, they need to get him some playmakers. They do that here with the selection of Robinson. He is a big target for Manning at 6'3, 220 pounds and he is a physical player who can make plays on contested balls -- something Manning needs. The Giants enter the draft with work to do on offense, and the selections of Lewan and Robinson go a long way toward helping to restore the productivity on that side of the ball."

Dan Kadar, SB Nation's NFL Draft analyst, has some thoughts and opinions to share on the Giants' mock draft pick of Robinson:

The Giants have their choice of several good receivers with this choice, whether it's a wideout or tight end. Along with Robinson, Fresno State's Davante Adams and LSU's Jarvis Landry could be wideout options. Tight ends like Jace Amaro and Troy Niklas are also still on the board. Any of these players could help boost New York's offense. Robinson is often compared to Anquan Boldin because of his physical playing style and ability to go up and bring down contested catches. He would be a different type of receiver than Victor Cruz and really help the team's red zone offense.
