2016 NFL Draft order: Top 5 picks in flux

We may be through 12 weeks of the season, but the 2016 NFL Draft order is completely up in the air, especially at the top. The first overall pick now belongs to the Tennessee Titans, who jumped all the way up from third overall this week.

Other picks in the top five are fluid. After losing on Monday night, the Cleveland Browns at 2-9 are locked into the second overall pick. Although Cleveland and Tennessee have the same record, the Titans’ full season strength of schedule is lower so they get the higher pick. The two teams are just small percentage points apart, however.

The continually losing Dallas Cowboys jumped from seventh to third based on strength of schedule tiebreakers. By winning, Detroit went all the way from the fifth pick to 12th. One of the other noteworthy movers this week is the San Diego Chargers. After winning on Sunday, the Chargers moved from the second overall pick to fourth.

The draft order is based on record, and then overall strength of schedule. If those are the same, conference record then division record are used. If all of that is equal, a coin flip takes place at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.
