Ben Roethlisberger's Nose Injury Requires Surgery, Extra Protection

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger broke his nose last Sunday night on a hit from Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata. The break caused blood to come streaming down his face but it didn't prevent him from finishing the game (which the Steelers won).

As expected, the Steelers don't expect Roethlisberger to miss any time because of the injury but he will have a little extra protection for his broken nose.

The latest apparatus will be a clear plastic shield to cover his face and protect his broken nose, repaired surgically Monday. That will join the oversized right shoe that contains two metal plates and a whole lot of tape wrapped around it to protect his broken foot.
Roethlisberger had surgery on the nose Monday so he'll be about six days removed when the Steelers play on Sunday. It doesn't sound like the Steelers expect it to limit him too much considering he's already playing injured.
