As the Jets and Patriots prepare for their third match-up of the season, this time in the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs, things are getting slightly chippy. When asked about New England quarterback Tom Brady, Jet’s cornerback Antonio Cromartie had some choice words for the MVP-to-be:
“We see that a lot. He does it a lot,” Cromartie said. “That’s the kind of guy he is. We really don’t give a damn, to tell you the truth. [He’s] an asshole. Fuck him.”
Apparently, Cromartie’s distaste for Brady stems back to his days with the Chargers. His team faced Brady in the division round of the playoffs in 2006, a game that New England won. After that game, LaDainian Tomlinson questioned the class of Brady and the Patriots. The grudge is still held onto by Cromartie, who went on to say:
“I hate them,” Cromartie said. “I don’t care. I hate them.”
Brady or the Patriots?
“Both,” he said.
“Everything is personal with me and the Patriots and what they did to us,” Cromartie said. “So, I really don’t care. I don’t have too much to say about them. I’m just ready to play ball on Sunday.”
That should add a little extra intrigue to what should be a great game between the divisional rivals. The Patriots-Jets contest kicks off at 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
