When they needed it to, the Ravens' running game put the Chiefs on ice.
Willis McGahee burst up the middle for a 25-yard touchdown run to finish a 15-play, 80-yard drive that killed 10:20 of clock and gave the Ravens a 30-7 lead. That score should end this one for certain, bringing the curtains down on the Chiefs' surprising 2010 season.
It didn't look like a blowout-to-be from the beginning — if anything, the Chiefs' explosiveness on the ground early made it seem like they might run away with the game — but the Ravens ended drives early and often with turnovers and third down stops, and made Matt Cassel look skittish on virtually every dropback.
Anyone have stats on how often teams come back from 23-point deficits with less than half a quarter left in the playoffs? No? Huh. That might explain why fans have filed out of Arrowhead Stadium. (McGahee mocked the Chiefs' tomahawk chop after his touchdown.)
The Ravens will move on to play the Steelers next weekend when they win. That AFC North grudge match is always good for more than a few bruises.
