Marcus Trufant Injury: Season Over For Seahawks CB

The Seahawks placed starting cornerback Marcus Trufant on Injured Reserve, ending his season. Now what will Seattle do to replace him?

Injury has ended the season for Marcus Trufant. The Seahawks placed the cornerback on the Injured Reserve due to back issues. Trufant has a history of problems with his back, which limited him to 10 games in 2009 with a back.

Here's the official word from the Seahawks:

Walter Thurmond is on track to start in place of CB Marcus Trufant (back), who was placed on IR today, @PeteCarroll said

Over at our Seahawks blog Field Gulls, Danny Kelly breaks down what this injury means for Seattle.

This means that Walter Thurmond will start in his place and Richard Sherman will probably see more action. Roy Lewis, now practicing after sitting on the PUP list the first six weeks of the season, figures to see some action as a nickelback. The Hawks have been running a lot of nickel so it will be very interesting to see how the playing time splits work out.
