Jeremy Shockey will be playing in Carolina next season (if there is a next season). Shockey was released by the New Orleans Saints last week and made the announcement of his new home on Facebook:
Looks like I'm signing with Carolina. Time for the Next chapter. This is a great opportunity for me, and I am excited to play football. Lets hope we all have the chance to play this season.
Terms of the deal aren't known.
The Saints released Shockey last week and he visited the Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers. He was reportedly "very interested" in playing for the Dolphins but nothing ever materialized. One important note, though, is that he did pass a physical with the Dolphins, so it sounds like he's healthy enough to play.
Shockey joins a Carolina team that finished 2-14 in 2010. They hold the No. 1 pick in the draft so Shockey will be catching passes next year from either QB Jimmy Clausen or what could be a top draft pick.
