New Orleans Saints RB Reggie Bush made headlines this offseason when he wishes New Orleans a farewell on his Twitter page shortly after the team selected RB Mark Ingram in the 2011 NFL draft. Bush eventually backtracked on his comments but it was clear the writing was on the wall -- if he wants to stay in New Orleans, he'll need to drastically reduce his $11 million-plus contract in 2011.
Another reason Bush may have realized he could be on his way in New Orleans is that the Saints told him back in February that he could shop himself to other teams. This according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports.
Bush and agent Joel Segal were told that a number of teams would be interested in paying him handsomely, or at least more than the Saints have apparently been willing to offer at this point. That is one of the reasons that Bush has made contradictory statements about his future in New Orleans and didn't participate in offseason workouts with Saints players.
Cole has also identified a few of the teams considered the most likely destinations for Bush if he leaves New Orleans, as expected. Those teams include the Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants.
Bush hasn't been incredibly productive but he still offers a unique skill-set that some coaches will undoubtedly feel they can take advantage of.
SB Nation's Canal Street Chronicles is currently asking their readers which player they think will lead the team in rushing yards. Presumably, Reggie Bush isn't the answer to that one.
